Sometimes unexpectedly logical thought visited American scientists. And sometimes these thoughts are radically contrary to what we are taught by fighters for the environment and a healthy tone of civilization.
And the thing is that the analysts from the University of Carnegie – Mellon University (this is a 115-year-old research center in Pennsylvania) estimated that the consumption of healthy food causes increased damage to the environment.
As basis they took a set of products recommended by the American Ministry of Health (vegetables, milk, fruits, and other seafood), and then calculate how much resources we will spend on their cultivation or production. And then compare these costs with production of meat, poultry, and other high-calorie, nutritious, wholesome food.
Bingo! Calculations show that if the average American person shifts to the healthy diet, we increase the amount of energy by 38%, water by 10% of greenhouse gases – by 6%. And the more people will take care of their health, the greater the burden will fall on our planet as a whole.
